Titan impresses the jury at the Golden Pixel Award 2024

CARINI once again scored a great success at the Golden Pixel Award 2024: For the third time in a row, victory was recorded in the “Labels” category – this time tied on points with two other industry colleagues from Lower Austria. This once again underlined the company’s leading role in the Austrian printing and packaging industry.

Another special highlight: three of the six nominations in this category were for CARINI projects – clear evidence of the consistently high quality and creative excellence of our company. Managing Director Simon Sohm emphasized the importance of the entire team in this context: “Every single member of the CARINI team has contributed to this success, and it is important for us to celebrate these successes together.”

Iconic design and storytelling

The Titan story

In Greek mythology, the Titans are considered powerful, divine beings of primeval times – descendants of Gaia (earth) and Uranos (sky). Kronos, the leader of the 12 Titans, led the rebellion against his father Uranos and embodies power, strength and the indomitable spirit. Fittingly, the chemical element titanium (TI22) stands for exceptional hardness, lightness and resilience. These properties make titanium an indispensable material in modern technology, from space travel to medical technology. The combination of myth and science in the “Titan” label creates a fascinating parallel between the strength and inventiveness of the Titans and the unique properties of the element – a perfect symbiosis of history, design and meaning.

The design

The design skillfully plays with many elements and references to the Titans of Greek mythology.
The rays around Kronos emphasize his divine power; they are alternately embossed blind, finished with hot foil in anthracite or printed in light grey. In addition, some of the rays consist of microscopically fine texts that tell a short story about the fall of the Titans. Kronos himself is visually captured by a blind embossed circle around which the names of the twelve Titans run. The letter “T” in the Greek style is alternately blind embossed or printed, and its appearance hints at the division of the Titans during their uprising. The motifs above it are randomly selected from 6 motifs. The label is rounded off by a special die-cut shape, so the beginning and end of the label form a whisky glass, a nice reference to the contents and ultimately each label is unique.

The technical execution

The “Titan” label was produced in several demanding production steps that required the utmost precision. In the first stage, hot stamping was combined with stamping foil, supplemented by micro-stamping to emphasize the finest details. The frame and the letter “T” were then finished using embossing. In the second step, hot foil stamping in elegant copper was used to give the design additional elegance. The final step was textured embossing and another blind embossing to emphasize the haptic quality of the label.

A special highlight is the application of a crystal, which is positioned centrally on the label. This crystal plays a key role, as it not only underlines the noble appearance of the label, but also symbolizes the mystical history of the first CARINI whisky “TI22”.

The background to the Golden Pixel Award

The format will be held for the 22nd time in 2024. The Golden Pixel Award provides the Austrian printing and packaging industry with the platform and stage for their great products. The award sees itself first and foremost as an initiative that aims to highlight the importance and value of print, something that was impressively achieved again this year.
