Golden Pixel Award 2025

Brilliant success for CARINI at the Golden Pixel Award 2025

CARINI’s renewed success at the Golden Pixel Award 2025 is a special recognition of our daily work. The award was given to a label that shows how strongly design, technology and storytelling can work together – and how much impact is created when creative ideas and technical production expertise are seamlessly combined.

A particularly nice detail of this success: as in the previous year, the design of the award-winning label was also created by our colleague Patrick Forster. His creative signature is therefore an important part of this success – which is also the result of a strong, cross-divisional team effort.

We would like to say a big thank you to the organizers and the jury of the Golden Pixel Award. Year after year, they make the outstanding projects of the Austrian printing industry visible and give them a brilliant stage.

The winning label "Helium" - convincing storytelling

The award-winning helium label for a sparkling wine shows how labels can go far beyond their function as information carriers. The interplay of design, material and finishing creates a narrative depth that arouses curiosity and invites discovery:

  • Storytelling through design
A ballerina in motion symbolizes lightness and floating – a visual metaphor for helium. The motif is complemented by fine details from aviation, the names of the researchers who discovered helium and hidden references such as the lock to the sky. The design is a deliberate reference to the pioneering era of the 1920s and 1930s, when the dream of flying became a reality.

  • Technical sophistication
The combination of sustainable paper and an integrated moisture barrier in the form of a film ensures stability and protection – essential for the special requirements of a sparkling wine label. An innovative detail: the film remains in place during the filigree inner part die-cutting, thus increasing stability and moisture resistance.

  • Symbolism in the design
A defining element is the golden circle with an embossed structure that frames the ballerina. Towards the top, the fine hatching increasingly dissolves – similar to helium in the atmosphere. A subtle metaphor for lightness, transience and the conscious use of resources.

  • Hidden elements to discover
A Morse code implemented as embossing invites interaction and deepens the storytelling. Translated, it means “element of stars” – a poetic paraphrase for helium and a further allusion to discovery and innovation.

The success at the Golden Pixel Award 2025 underlines how effective labels can be when design, technology and storytelling are considered holistically – and how strong the results are that arise from committed teamwork.
